An extremely rare gardening book, important for having advertisements from Pittsburgh area businesses on virtually every page.  While most of these are related to horticulture, many are from businesses selling a wide variety of products.  OCLC only lists one copy, that at the University of Delaware.  Elliott was a well-known landscape gardener but his advertisement also indicates he had purchaed the seed department of Elliott and Burgess nursery in Pittsburgh.  The first half of the book gives practical directions for cultivating flowers and ornamental plants.  Shorter sections are devoted to fruits, landscape gardening, and vegetable cultivation.  Covers are faded, but a good to very good copy overall.
